7/6/2012 · G5RV Jr . (Half Size) Ham Radio Antenna: This project gives instruction on how to build my version of the G5RV wire antenna that is used on the 10-40 Meter Ham Radio bands (28MHZ to 7MHZ). The history and basic theory of this antenna dates back to 1946. It was invented by Louis Varney. Mo , The Radiowavz G5RV Jr. antenna measures only 51 feet across the top for 40 thru 6 meter operation , and is fed at the center through a low loss 450 ohm ladder line. The interaction between the radiating section and the feed-stub makes the G5RV Jr. usually easy to match on all-bands from 40 meters through 6 meters with good antenna tuner.
5/25/2020 · Anyway I’ve been searching the net looking at the designs and almost all of them agree that 51′ is the proper length but they all seem to vary regarding the length of the ladder line (I am using 450 ohm window line). Some say 16′ some say 16.5′ and w8amz’s version is 15.5′.

and the matching segment hanging freely, only 40m, 20m, 17m and 10m are usable (17m with SWR of 7.6 requires an external tuner). SWR of 15m is 22, 12m is >25 and 6m is also >25.
Page 1 INTRODUCTION The MFJ-1778M antenna is a multi-band center-fed dipole antenna capable of 1500 Watts. The MFJ-1778M consists of 52 feet flat-top fed with 17 feet of 450 ohm matching section ending in an SO-239 coaxial connector. This antenna generally requires the use of a suitable matching network (antenna tuner) since the SWR of the G5RV JR is almost.
The famous G5RV-style antenna is the most popular ham radio antenna in the world! You hear strong signals from a G5RV Jr. on every band, day and night. It’s no wonder… it’s an efficient multi-band antenna that’s only 52 ft. long–shorter than a 40 Meter dipole! Used as an Inverted-V or Sloper, it’s even more compact and needs just one support.
Covers all bands, 160-10 Meters with antenna tun er. 102 feet long, shorter than 80 Meter dipole. Use as inverted vee or sloper to be more compact . Use on 160 Meters as Marconi with tuner and ground. Handles full legal limit power.
